NON-PARTISAN REPORT: Tom Kean Jr. Voted to Cut His Own Taxes by Thousands of Dollars – “Will Cash In”

ITEP: Kean Jr. “will see direct personal benefits while most of [his] constituents benefit little or will be worse off”

Congressman Tom Kean Jr. is cutting his own taxes while gutting health care for New Jerseyans.

That’s what striking new analysis from the non-partisan Institute on Taxation and Economic Policy (ITEP) reveals. The report shows that Kean Jr. voted to slash his own personal taxes by as much as $17,900.

While Kean Jr. “will cash in” on his vote for the Big, Ugly Bill, many of his New Jerseyans “will be worse off.” That’s because Kean Jr. voted for the largest cuts to Medicaid in history, putting hospitals at risk of closure and ripping away health care from tens of thousands of his neighbors – all so that he could slash his own taxes by thousands of dollars.

DCCC Spokesperson Eli Cousin:
“Congressman Tom Kean Jr. has become the exact kind of self-serving D.C. politician that his father warned New Jersey about. Kean Jr. slashes his own taxes to the tune of thousands of dollars while he simultaneously rips away health care and jacks up premiums for hardworking New Jersey families. He has come to represent everything that’s wrong with Washington.”
