Access to safe, legal abortion in America took a devastating blow last night with POLITICO reporting on a leaked draft Supreme Court majority opinion that would strike down Roe v. Wade and open the door for 26 states to immediately move to ban the right to abortion. North Carolina Republicans are complicit in this all-out assault on women’s freedoms.
North Carolinians need to know the Republican congressional candidates’ dangerous records on women’s reproductive freedom and health care:

NC-13: Bo Hines asserted that he was “pro-life” and “pro-traditional values,” and said “We must never waver on our commitment to end abortion in this country.”

NC-13: DeVan Barbour opposes the right to safe, legal abortion, claiming that “abortions on demand can not be tolerated” and making it a core issue of his candidacy.

NC-14: Jonathan Simpson wants to restrict reproductive freedom. He likened abortion to murder, and claimed abortion has “grave moral implications.” He’s made it a core issue of his candidacy and is advocating for a national abortion ban at 12 weeks of pregnancy.
Make no mistake – access to abortion is on the line this November and hinges on control of Congress. Just hours before the draft Supreme Court opinion was leaked, the Washington Post reported that congressional Republicans are working on a “push for a strict nationwide ban on the procedure if Republicans retake power in Washington.”
