With Novak Endorsement, Richter Embraces Extreme Policies

Self-Proclaimed “Most Conservative” Republican Candidate Drops Out, Endorses Former Foe and Frontrunner

Barnegat Township Mayor John Novak dropped out of the race for the Republican nomination for Congress in New Jersey’s 3rd district and has endorsed David Richter against Kate Gibbs, adding an exclamation mark to an already messy primary.

David Richter accepted the Mayor’s endorsement and in doing so, has embraced the reckless policies that fueled Novak’s candidacy.

As a reminder, here’s where Novak stands on the issues:

  • Novak supports repealing the Affordable Care Act. Repealing the ACA would gut protections for 3.8 million New Jerseyans with preexisting conditions and raise the costs of prescription drugs on countless others.
  • Novak is staunchly anti-choice, even when a woman’s health is at risk.
  • Novak was booed by townspeople after disparaging LGBTQ history.

This is what David Richter just embraced.

Where does that leave failed Freeholder Gibbs, whose arrest record Novak has criticized?

We’ll just have to wait and see.

“In accepting and embracing John Novak, David Richter has made clear that he embraces his most extreme policies, including gutting protections for New Jerseyans with preexisting conditions and raising the costs of health care,” said DCCC Spokesperson Christine Bennett. “Voters in New Jersey’s 3rd district want steady, sound leadership, not recklessness, and that’s why they will reelect Andy Kim come November.”
