The official campaign arm of House Republicans is blindly protecting and supporting Congressman Tony Gonzales to the tune of nearly a half million dollars, despite increased scrutiny and calls to resign following the release of explicit texts showing an inappropriate relationship with a deceased staffer.

Gonzales told reporters today he will NOT resign from Congress amid the scandal, despite several Republicans calling on him to resign.
Further increasing the pressure campaign to expel Gonzales, Republican Rep. Lauren Boebert has now called on the National Republican Campaign Committee to cut off precious campaign dollars from Gonzales and to instead “direct their spending commitments to Brandon Herrera,” a far-right extremist known as “The AK Guy.”
Stuck between a literal arms dealer and a disgraced incumbent, Chairman Hudson is waiting for marching orders from Deputy Speaker Johnson.
The whole episode raises serious questions before the NRCC, which is facing an already volatile electoral environment turning against Trump and Congressional Republicans.
- Will the NRCC continue to provide campaign contributions to scandal-plagued Tony Gonzales?
- Is the NRCC concerned that they are wasting money on a doomed incumbent when so many others are in even more electoral jeopardy?
- Will any so-called Republican moderates call Gonzales’ actions unbecoming of a Member of Congress?
DCCC Spokesperson Justin Chermol:
“Deputy Speaker Mike Johnson and the NRCC are protecting Tony Gonzales to save their gerrymandered seat from a massive flip.”
