Failed former Speakers McCarthy and Gingrich were called in by the NRCC to hype up their latest class of “extremists, conspiracy theory-mongers, underfunded aspirants, and oddball contenders who might more accurately be labeled potential duds.”
McCarthy was ousted from the Speakership after losing control of the Republican conference, and Gingrich was “dumped from the speakership” after losing seats in the 1998 midterms.
DCCC Spokesperson Viet Shelton:
“The NRCC bringing in two proven losers on the eve of them losing the House Majority might be the worst TED talk ever.”
