NRCC Chairman Emmer, House GOP Finally Release Their 2022 Agenda: Managing Trump’s Lies

Emmer fails to give straight answer on 2020 election conspiracies plaguing GOP as the party continues their failed attempts to manage Trump’s lies

After months of trying to block popular legislation and forcing Americans to wonder what the House GOP is fighting for, NRCC Chairman Tom Emmer made it clear that the House GOP is more focused on managing former President Trump’s lies rather than working for the American people.

As more and more members of the House GOP embrace extremist conspiracies like Trump’s Big Lie, reports from Politico and CBS Minnesota WCCO suggest the party is spending more energy on trying to manage the former President’s lies rather than providing critical relief for their communities.

  • When asked why 53% of Republicans believe the false claim that Trump is the true President, Chairman Emmer failed to give a real response, instead saying, “this is just evolving and growing.”

  • One GOP lawmaker said if Trump focuses on “election fraud and sour grapes from 2020” as he campaigns for House Republicans, “it will hurt us.”
  • Politico reports, “it’s not clear whether the freewheeling former president can stay focused on 2022 as he hits the trail for Republican candidates, and that uncertainty is far more than a mere potential political problem for the GOP.”
  • Rep. Adam Kinzinger says House Minority Leader Kevin McCarthy has, “given his leadership card to the president. So if the former president is looking backwards, you don’t have a choice.”

Meanwhile, House Republicans have voted to block legislation to strengthen vaccine distribution, get kids back in schools, and put cash into Americans’ pockets. As the House GOP stumbles through the 2022 cycle, it’s clear the party has their hands too full with Trump’s lies to bother working for American families.
