With 55 days until Election Day, Tom Emmer, the person in charge of electing Republicans to the House, is joining 80 of his fellow House Republicans in cosponsoring a national abortion ban.
Every candidate running in a swing district, backed by the NRCC, or who has received financial support from Tom Emmer’s NRCC will now have to answer whether or not they think Republicans’ final message to voters should be that they will pass a nationwide abortion ban if they win the majority.
DCCC spokesperson Tommy Garcia:
“House Republicans’ official campaign arm has dealt a devastating blow to the candidates trying to hide their positions on abortion by signing onto a bill that would ban abortion nationwide as a final pitch to voters. Every rubber stamp Republican running in a swing district will have to declare whether they’ll buck their party’s official platform or vote in line with their party like voters know they will.”
