This week the NRCC spent almost $100,000 in their bid to get an unapologetic Nazi sympathizer elected to Congress – just weeks after Minority Leader Kevin McCarthy’s Super PAC dedicated nearly $700,000 to the district *which Trump won by 17 points four years ago*. Despite the embattled candidate’s inexplicable infatuation with the Third Reich, Republicans invited Cawthorn to speak at the RNC Convention, and now Minority Leader McCarthy’s Super PAC and the National Republican Campaign Committee is spending money to elect Nazi Eagle’s Nest Admirer Madison Cawthorn to Congress.
Cawthorn called Hitler “the Führer” in his posts, a term of reverence, and said the trip to the Eagle’s Nest, where Hitler planned horrific atrocities, was on his “bucket list.”
The pics were deleted the same day that Jezebel reported on Cawthorn’s ties to the far-right. He named his real estate company SPQR, a term used by white nationalists, and he has an early American flag in his home, which anti-racism groups say has been appropriated by far-right extremists.
Statement from DCCC Spokesperson Madia Coleman
“Minority Leader McCarthy and the NRCC’s decision to bankroll Nazi-sympathizer Madison Cawthorne is shameful, but unfortunately par for the course in an election year in which they have backed a 9/11 truther, QAnon believers, and white supremacists. American soldiers died to defeat fascism, but now Washington Republicans are sending a message to voters that, with so much at stake, they’re choosing to side with a Nazi sympathizer.”
