| Republicans’ agenda of higher costs and broken promises is so toxic with voters that the NRCC is now having to spend money to rescue its own chairman. A new mail piece paid for by the Committee has been spotted in North Carolina’s 9th District, propping up Chairman Richard Hudson as he fights to hold a seat Republicans once considered safe.
This NRCC bailout comes after reporting by The Washington Sun earlier this month revealed that Hudson’s campaign reserved more than $200,000 in TV ads in a district Donald Trump won by 15 points. A new poll released this week found NC-09 a dead heat.
DCCC Spokesperson Madison Andrus:
“When the man in charge of protecting House Republicans needs his own Committee to bail him out, you know the GOP is in serious trouble. Richard Hudson is so worried about losing his seat that the NRCC is now paying for mail in his district, on top of the nearly $500,000 his campaign dumped into ads in this month alone. Every dollar Hudson spends saving himself is a dollar he can’t spend defending the rest of his vulnerable majority.”
