Well, this is awkward: After John Boehner’s longtime ally John Kline abruptly announced his retirement from Minnesota’s 2nd Congressional District, the NRCC wasted no time in floating names to the press on who would replace him.
But one by one, they’ve all – dropped – out.
One potential recruit even said he’d “rather stick a fork in my eye” than run for Congress.
Yikes.
“It’s no surprise that Speaker Boehner’s failed policies as well as the rampant infighting within the Republican Party would turn anyone off from joining that dysfunctional mess,” said Sacha Haworth of the DCCC. “As big name after big name takes a pass, we get it: why would anyone want to be a Congressional Republican right now?”
