NRCC Misfires with ‘Young Gun’ Scott Baugh

The National Republican Congressional Committee just added one-time Orange County Republican Chair Scott Baugh to its ‘Young Gun’ program, its list of top-tier candidates – though Baugh hardly qualifies as a fresh face.

Scott Baugh is an anti-democracy, radical Republican who has spent his long career attacking Californians’ right to vote while putting their health care at risk.

Here’s what voters should know about the NRCC’s top-tier candidate in Orange County: 

• While Scott Baugh was Chair of the Orange County Republican Party, as many as 600 Orange County residents had their voter registration changed to Republican without their consent.

• Baugh was indicted on federal charges for manipulating the results of an election.

• Baugh is a founding chairman of an organization that attempted to disenfranchise Californians and spread voting disinformation.

• Baugh supported repealing the Affordable Care Act, a move projected to cause 52,300 residents of CA-47 to lose their health insurance and weaken protections for people with pre-existing conditions.
