Emmer praises Marjorie Taylor Greene for funding House GOP in the wake of news that she called for Democrats to be executed
On the same day that Minority Leader Kevin McCarthy pledged to “have a conversation with” Congresswoman, QAnon Enthusiast, and 9/11 and Sandy Hook Truther Marjorie Taylor Greene about her support for killing Democratic elected officials, NRCC Chair Tom Emmer was busy praising the new GOP Frontwoman and begging her to help fund the committee.
As CNN reported earlier this week, Taylor Greene has “repeatedly indicated support for executing prominent Democratic politicians,” promoting dangerous and debunked conspiracy theories and giving her full support for putting a “bullet in the head” of Democrats and “hanging” elected officials. These comments, made over the last two years, were echoed by the QAnon mob that stormed the Capitol earlier this month. That is not a mistake.
Yet instead of summoning the courage to denounce these comments, Emmer caved to Marjorie Taylor Greene’s growing prominence in his caucus, turned a blind eye to her calls for violence and made it clear in no uncertain terms that the NRCC is excited to take her money and spend it in the House battlefield, creating yet another link between the NRCC, the violent QAnon mob, and vulnerable House Republicans who do not want to answer for their associations.
House Minority Leader Kevin McCarthy privately made a blunt appeal to his colleagues in the aftermath of the divisive fight to impeach former President Donald Trump: Stop attacking each other and instead focus on Democrats.
…The call, which was hosted by the National Republican Congressional Committee, was aimed at ensuring that members ponied up money to help win back the majority, with GOP members pledging more than $2 million to the party campaign committee.
And on the call, sources said, Republicans committed to filling the NRCC’s coffers, including controversial freshman Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene. The Georgia Republican promised to pay her dues and transfer $175,000 to the NRCC, which prompted the committee’s chairman, Minnesota Rep. Tom Emmer, to thank her during the call, the sources said.

Emmer’s failure to stand up to Taylor Greene and her violent extremism is nothing new. Under his leadership, the NRCC endorsed Taylor Greene last year and cut her a $5,000 check, despite her well-documented ties to the QAnon mob.
“Minority Leader McCarthy and NRCC Chair Tom Emmer have not only caved to the mob and welcomed QAnon conspiracist Marjorie Taylor Green into their caucus, they’re putting her front and center as a key player. By accepting significant funding from Taylor Greene, Washington Republicans are sending a clear signal to the American people that they own and condone the most dangerous strains of violent extremism threatening our country. Americans have died at the hand of the QAnon mob, now vulnerable House Republicans will have to answer for that violence,” said DCCC Spokesperson Brooke Goren.
