Following the announcement that Tano Tijerina has officially launched his campaign for Congress, months after he launched an ‘exploratory committee’ that is now at the center of an FEC complaint, DCCC spokesperson Madison Andrus released the following statement:
“This sham ‘official’ launch is just the beginning of what South Texans will learn about Tano Tijerina. He started his campaign on the basis of lies, political games, and self-serving actions. Now that he believes he has successfully skirted Texas law, he can focus his attention on his political ambitions all while collecting a six-figure taxpayer funded paycheck.
“But make no mistake, people have tried and failed to defeat Congressman Henry Cuellar for years. He has faced down challenge after challenge and come out on top by a comfortable margin every time. Congressman Cuellar remains one of the most dedicated and respected public servants in South Texas, which is why Texans keep sending him back to Congress.
“Tano Tijerina kept his day job while also embarking on this vanity run for Congress because he knows that Congressman Cuellar isn’t going anywhere.”
