It’s been less than 24 hours since our last press release calling out the NRCC for refusing to acknowledge their Republican nominee in NC-01, Sandy Smith. And today, the NRCC snubbed her yet again as Sandy was conspicuously missing from today’s round of On The Radar candidates.
It’s no wonder the NRCC is attempting to keep their distance — Sandy Smith has been accused of a pattern of disturbing violence against her family, including allegedly trying to run over her ex-husband with a car. She proudly admits to marching on the Capitol on January 6th. And even if voters could overlook the disturbing allegations of abuse, Smith’s extremist views and bizarre conspiracy theories are enough to make any North Carolinian sprint in the other direction.
The NRCC may be heading into this general election eyes wide shut, but the fact remains: Sandy Smith is their Republican nominee in NC-01, and she’ll lose to Don Davis in November.
“The NRCC clearly sees the writing on the wall: This district is a lost cause for them with MAGA extremist Sandy Smith as their Republican nominee,” said DCCC spokesperson Monica Robinson.
