NRCC Silent Following “Young Gun” Cawthorn’s Racism

NY Times: GOP House Candidate sounds a racist dog whistle

Last night, news broke that NRCC Young Gun Madison Cawthorn included racist language on his website, arguing that voters in North Carolina’s 11th Congressional District shouldn’t support Moe Davis because someone associated with the campaign used to “work for non-white males, like Cory Booker, who aims to ruin white males.”

Of course, that hasn’t stopped the NRCC from pouring money into the district and supporting Cawthorn as an NRCC Young Gun. As a reminder, the NRCC’s investment in the district came after they learned of Cawthorn’s pattern of signaling white supremacy and QAnon support.

But while the NRCC continues to lift up Cawthorn and Minority Leader McCarthy’s super PAC continues to spend over half a million dollars on his behalf, it’s clear North Carolinians have had enough. Recent polling shows Davis leading Cawthorn 45%-42%.

“Madison Cawthorn has exhibited totally unacceptable behavior in his congressional bid. His racism, anti-semitism, white supremacist signals, and QAnon ties are undeniable,” said DCCC Spokesperson Sarah Guggenheimer. “The NRCC and Minority Leader McCarthy have a clear responsibility to cut ties with Cawthorn and speak out against this pattern of offensive behavior.”
