The NRCC is spending big in the final days of the midterms to prop up Brandon Herrera, a detestable YouTube personality who has used his platform to make light of mass shootings, use sexually explicit language about mothers and children, joke about veteran suicide, and goose-step to a Nazi marching song.
DCCC Spokesperson Madison Andrus: “The NRCC is pouring money into South Texas to elect a man who said Americans should be ‘glad’ mass shooters use guns, in a district that still mourns the innocent children murdered in Uvalde. That tells Texans exactly whose side Republicans and the NRCC are on. Katy Padilla Stout is a teacher and child welfare attorney who will fight to lower costs and protect families. On Election Day, voters are going to make sure Bradon Herrera never gets near the halls of Congress.”
Here’s what the NRCC is supporting:
On Nazis:Herrera has joked about Hitler, said “for the fatherland” before firing a Nazi-made rifle, and defended owning a 1939 copy of Mein Kampf, saying he’d “read a good chunk of the book.”
On mass shootings:Herrera said people “should be really glad that some of these people are using guns to do this.”
On veteran suicide: Herrera, who never served, joked that he often thinks about “putting a gun in my mouth, so I’m basically an honorary veteran.”
On working families:Herrera said, “People are poor, and they b*tch about anything that’s over 600 bucks.” He also joined in mocking renters and defended high CEO salaries.
On women’s right to vote: Herrera said, “I’m not saying that the 19th Amendment was a mistake. I’m just saying that the country went to sh*t after.”
On mothers and children:Herrera used a vulgar sexual slur to describe children and attacked mothers who speak out politically. When given the chance to walk it back, he doubled down: “The sentiment stands.” A CNN review found he repeatedly made vulgar sexual statements and derogatory comments about the appearance and intelligence of women.
On seniors: He joked about killing old people with a mallet after abolishing their Social Security.
On children with special needs:Herrera mocked a mother of a child with special needs on his podcast, calling her son “a special little soldier” and joking about a military unit of “Inglorious r*tards.”
