O.K. McCarthy’s Mess: Day 4

Despite Kevin McCarthy’s eagerness to spew confidence at every turn and try to convince people he is about to rebound, House Republicans continue to reject McCarthy as their chaotic speakership disaster continues.

• January 2: Day before votes began, McCarthy felt “actually really good”

• January 3: Hours before losing three times, McCarthy beamed, “I earned this job. We earned this majority, and goddamn it, we are going to win it today”

• January 4: After losing six, McCarthy felt “very confident”

• January 5: McCarthy after losing speaker vote 11 times: ‘I feel good’

• January 6: ???

With no end in sight and the 118th Congress being held hostage by the GOP’s dysfunction and refusal to budge on either side, Americans across the country are reading all about this utter embarrassment.
