It’s been more than a day since J.R. Majewski won his GOP primary election in OH-09, but the NRCC has made it clear they don’t want to talk about him. The House Republicans’ campaign arm has congratulated other OH GOP candidates who made it through their primaries but are avoiding comment on Majewski.
Wonder why? During his first 24 hours as the GOP nominee, Majewski has been slammed with negative coverage on how right-wing, fringe, and dangerous he would be in Congress.
A few standout points:
-
Majewski perpetuated the former president’s false claims that the 2020 election was stolen.
-
Majewski proudly admitted that he attended the Jan. 6, 2021 “Stop the Steal” rally and funded travel for more insurrectionists
-
Majewski frequently associates with a prominent QAnon influencer, has used QAnon hashtags on social media, and has quite a collection of QAnon T-shirts.
It’s not surprising the NRCC has yet to congratulate extremist J.R. Majewski with this kind of coverage.
DCCC spokesperson Abel Iraola:
“It says a lot when the party that defends January 6 rioters, spews conspiracy theories, and is fighting to rip away women’s rights and health care is unwilling to stand by their candidate. The NRCC is now stuck with a toxic and extreme nominee who is out of touch with what’s important to voters in Northwest Ohio.”
