On 5th Anniversary of Jan. 6th, Reminder that Scott Perry Opposed Honoring Fallen Police Officers

Perry was the only PA member of Congress from either party to oppose awarding medals to officers who defended the Capitol. The vote was 406-21.

On the fifth anniversary of the violent January 6th insurrection which injured more than 140 law enforcement officers and led to multiple deaths, here’s a reminder that Congressman Scott Perry is so extreme that he voted against an overwhelmingly bipartisan effort to honor those who put their lives on the line to protect our nation’s Capitol.

Perry was the only member of Pennsylvania’s congressional delegation – Republican or Democrat – to oppose the bipartisan measure.

Perry’s deep ties to the January 6th insurrection have been well documented. Perry played a “direct role” in the effort to subvert the will of voters in Central Pennsylvania. He participated in “Stop the Steal” rallies and was a key player in Trump’s plot to oust the acting Attorney General in order to overturn Georgia’s presidential election results. Perry spread unfounded claims regarding the election, joined a lawsuit aimed at invalidating millions of votes, and opposed certifying the election in his own commonwealth.

Perry has even continued to use taxpayer dollars to rent two district offices from an insurrectionist who was arrested for attacking police officers with a flagpole on January 6th, and even asked for a pardon for himself.
Today is a reminder of what so many Central Pennsylvanians already know: Scott Perry is simply too extreme and out-of-touch.

DCCC Spokesperson Eli Cousin:
“Whether it’s refusing to honor injured and fallen police officers, disparaging veterans and servicemembers who don’t agree with his politics, or failing to do anything to prevent health care costs from skyrocketing, Scott Perry has continually proven that he’s too extreme for Central Pennsylvania. Today and every day is a reminder that Perry will always put his extreme politics ahead of the people he is supposed to represent.”
