Today marks the 13th anniversary of the Affordable Care Act being signed into law – and thanks to President Biden and Democrats, more Americans than ever have signed up for health insurance through the ACA.
While Democrats continue working to lower health care costs for everyday Americans, extreme MAGA Republicans are floating plans to gut the ACA as part of their Republican-made default crisis and budget talks.
The MAGA playbook to repeal the ACA would make health care costs higher, terminate critical protections for people with pre-existing conditions, and create severe consequences for American seniors and people with disabilities. This would have a devastating impact across our nation:
More than 35 million people enrolled in health care coverage related to the ACA could lose coverage bills
More than 100 million people with pre-existing conditions could face higher premiums or be denied coverage
And nearly 24 million people on private health insurance could lose the financial protections that out-of-pocket caps provide.
