On Anniversary of ACA, the GOP Remains a Threat to NH Health Care

It’s the 12th anniversary of the Affordable Care Act being signed into law – it’s still under threat by Republicans.

Republican leadership in the House have tried in vain to repeal the ACA and have made repeal a priority if they win back control of Congress.

Matt Mowers wants to repeal the ACA, calling it a “terrible law.” Karoline Leavitt has called the ACA “disastrous.” Gaill Huff Brown has attacked the law as well.

This would have a devastating impact in New Hampshire:

  • 89,000 people in New Hampshire would lose coverage

  • 571,300 people in New Hampshire with preexisting conditions could face higher premiums, face benefit exclusions, or be denied coverage altogether

  • New Hampshire would lose $366 million in federal funding for health coverage because the ruling would eliminate ACA funding for the marketplaces, Medicaid, and Children’s Health Insurance Program.

  • The tax revenue that funds the ACA’s expansion of health coverage would go back into the pockets of the wealthy, with millionaires receiving tax cuts averaging $46,000 each.

James Singer DCCC Spokesperson

“Republicans have made clear what their plan is for Americans’ health care, take it away.”
