| An Allentown home care worker and former Republican spoke on CNN this week, calling out her Congressman Ryan Mackenzie for failing to actually do anything to lower health care costs.
Asked by CNN whether she thinks Mackenzie has done enough, Lynn from Allentown responded that she has seen her congressman sign onto meaningless letters but that “I don’t know how much he’s actually doing, or is he just saying that because elections are coming up next year?”
Transcript highlights:
CNN: In your letter to the newspaper you appealed to your Congressman Republican Ryan Mackenzie for an extension of health care tax credits. What is he saying about this? What is your message, right now, to those who have the majority in Congress – Republicans?
Lynn from Allentown: I have seen some things that my Representative Mackenzie has put out into the media. He signed onto a letter saying that he’s ‘interested.’ There was an article that came out […] that he said he was interested in continuing the tax credits which is really what I was using. However, he also voted for the ‘Big Beautiful Bill’ that did not extend the tax credits to begin with and made life a lot more difficult. So I don’t know how much he’s actually doing or is he just saying that because elections are coming up next year?
[…]
Lynn from Allentown: […] I was a lifelong Republican. I voted for Republicans in the past. I grew up Evangelical Christian. I continue to believe in God […] and I just don’t see the current Republican Party following the family values that they say they do. Health care is a family value. Affordable living is a family value.
