On Roe v. Wade Anniversary, Reminder That Tom Barrett Falls in Line with D.C. Party Bosses to Rip Away Women’s Health Care

Barrett Will Fall in Line with D.C. Party Bosses to Pass National Abortion Ban

Today marks the 53rd anniversary of the Roe v. Wade decision – a decision that Tom Barrett has spent years working to overturn, to rip away women’s freedoms to make their own health care choices.

Here’s your reminder of Tom Barrett’s commitment to ripping away health care choices from Michigan women:

  • Barrett called himself “100% PRO-LIFE – NO EXCEPTIONS,” and suggested he’d consider a national abortion ban.
  • Barrett supported a failed attempt to reinstate Michigan’s 1931 abortion ban, which bans abortion without exceptions.
  • Barrett voted for a backdoor effort to pressure states with established legal protections into gradually stripping away abortion rights.
  • Barrett spoke at last fall’s March for Life rally where he touted federal legislation he supports to make it harder to access reproductive health care.

The bottom line is: Tom Barrett’s record proves he is a reliable vote for a national abortion ban that would supersede Michigan’s reproductive health care protections.

DCCC Spokesperson Katie Smith:
“Tom Barrett has worked for years to ban abortion and deny Michigan women the right to make their own health care decisions. After years voting to ban abortion, there is no doubt Barrett will fall in line with his D.C. party bosses and vote to pass a national abortion ban and further rip away Michigan women’s health care.”
