| On the sixteenth anniversary of the Affordable Care Act, hardworking Alaskan families are reeling from skyrocketing health care costs after Nick Begich voted against extending ACA tax credits.
Now premiums are higher and affordable options are shrinking, leaving many families in Alaska paying more each month or forgoing coverage entirely.
A majority of Americans blame Republicans for rising health care costs, and many families are already feeling the impact in their day to day lives. According to recent reporting, ACA enrollees are cutting back on basics like food and utilities just to keep up with their monthly health care costs.
REMINDER: Begich cast the deciding vote on the largest cut to Medicaid in history – ripping away health care from over 35,000 Alaskans. Instead of taking responsibility, Begich continues to “blam[e] the Affordable Care Act for rising costs.”
DCCC Spokesperson Anna Elsasser:
“Today’s anniversary is a reminder that Nick Begich handed a massive health care tax hike to hardworking families across Alaska. By failing to extend the ACA tax credits, Begich has effectively forced people to choose between paying for basic needs like rent or groceries or going to see a doctor. Alaskans are being priced out of their own care, and they’ll remember Begich is responsible for these skyrocketing bills when they head to the polls in November.” |
