On the 16th Anniversary of the ACA, Mike Lawler Is To Blame For New York Families Facing Rising Health Care Costs

On the sixteenth anniversary of the Affordable Care Act, hardworking New York families are reeling from skyrocketing health care costs after Mike Lawler failed to extend the ACA tax credits.

Now premiums are higher and affordable options are shrinking, leaving many families in New York paying more each month or forgoing coverage entirely. One Lower Hudson Valley resident even saw her insurance premium spike by $10,000 to nearly $29,000 a year.

A majority of Americans blame Republicans for rising health care costs, and many families are already feeling the impact in their day to day lives. According to recent reporting, ACA enrollees are cutting back on basics like food and utilities just to keep up with their monthly health care costs.

REMINDER: Mike Lawler has a long record of bashing and undermining the Affordable Care Act, repeatedly calling it “a disaster.”

DCCC Spokesperson Riya Vashi:
“Today’s anniversary is a reminder that Mike Lawler handed a massive health care tax hike to hardworking families across New York. By failing to extend the ACA tax credits, Lawler has effectively forced people to choose between paying for basic needs like rent or groceries or going to see a doctor. New Yorkers are being priced out of their own care, and they’ll remember Lawler is responsible for these skyrocketing bills when they head to the polls in November.”
