| On the sixteenth anniversary of the Affordable Care Act, hardworking Texas families are reeling from skyrocketing health care costs after Monica De La Cruz failed to extend ACA tax credits.
Now premiums are higher and affordable options are shrinking, leaving many families in Texas paying more each month or forgoing coverage entirely. Families in TX-15 are seeing their health care premium costs more than double with some being forced to pay more than $1,500 per month for health insurance.
A majority of Americans blame Republicans for rising health care costs, and many families are already feeling the impact in their day to day lives. According to recent reporting, ACA enrollees are cutting back on basics like food and utilities just to keep up with their monthly health care costs.
DCCC Spokesperson Madison Andrus:
“Today’s anniversary is a reminder that Monica De La Cruz handed a massive health care tax hike to hardworking families across Texas. By failing to extend the ACA tax credits, De La Cruz has effectively forced people to choose between paying for basic needs like rent or groceries or going to see a doctor. Texans are being priced out of being able to get the health care they need; Voters will remember how vulnerable Republican De La Cruz betrayed and lied to them when they head to the polls this November.” |
