On the 61st Anniversary of Medicaid and Medicare – House Republicans’ Vote to Cut These Critical Programs Will Cost Them the Majority

Despite this record of American success, the anniversary highlights how both programs are under assault by Republicans and how GOP attacks have made health care the top domestic issue for Americans this year, according to Gallup.

Driving this anxiety among the public is the incredible damage caused by House Republicans’ Big, Ugly Bill. The Republican law is ripping away health care from millions of Americans and raising medical costs on everyone else – all to fund massive tax breaks for billionaires and big corporations.

The impacts are real and Americans are hurting. House Republicans’ cruel and decisive vote to gut Medicaid will wreak havoc on American lives:

ADDITIONALLY: The Big, Ugly Bill triggered nearly $500 billion in cuts to Medicare, resulting in likely cuts to funding for hospitals and doctors and higher premiums for seniors. To “celebrate” the anniversary of Medicare, the Trump administration also ended a prescription drug plan that will spike the cost of medicine for Medicare recipients.
