On the 62nd Anniversary of SNAP, Mike Lawler is Taking Food Off the Plates of New Yorkers

Since passage of Republicans’ Big, Ugly Bill last year, roughly 180,000 New Yorkers have lost food assistance
On this day 62 years ago, America’s nutrition assistance program was signed into law, helping generations of New York families and children afford healthy, nutritious meals. Today, Mike Lawler is working to dismantle that program.

In the year since Lawler and House Republicans voted to cut $187 billion from SNAP with their Big, Ugly Bill, 180,000 New Yorkers have lost critical nutrition assistance, forcing them to decide between feeding their families or paying their bills.

Last week, the DCCC launched a mobile billboard campaign in NY-17 to hold Lawler accountable for his cruel cuts to food aid.
