| On this day 62 years ago, America’s nutrition assistance program was signed into law, helping generations of Texas families and children afford healthy, nutritious meals. Today, Monica De La Cruz is working to dismantle that program.
In the year since De La Cruz and House Republicans voted to cut $187 billion from SNAP with their Big, Ugly Bill, more than 650,000 Texans have lost critical nutrition assistance, forcing them to decide between feeding their families or paying their bills.
Last week, the DCCC launched a mobile billboard campaign in TX-15 to hold De La Cruz accountable for her cruel cuts to food aid.

Washington Post: Democrats target Republicans who voted for SNAP cuts with billboards
- About a year ago, cuts to the nation’s largest food assistance program went into effect as part of the Republicans’ One Big Beautiful Bill, affecting about 4.5 million Americans.
- On Wednesday, the Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee plans to roll out mobile billboards targeting a handful of House Republicans in swing districts who voted for the cuts, accusing them of taking food off voters’ plates.
- The billboards are slated to travel to the districts of Reps. Juan Ciscomani (Arizona), Gabe Evans (Colorado), Mike Lawler (New York), Ryan Mackenzie (Pennsylvania) and Monica De La Cruz (Texas).

- De La Cruz said in July 2025 after the act passed that she “proudly voted” for it […].
