ON THE RISE: “Perry, Stelson In Statistical Tie In PA-10”

As of this week, the race for Pennsylvania’s 10th District is now in a statistical tie — and between Janelle Stelson’s distinct brand and the continued dysfunction in Congress, storm clouds are on the horizon for Scott Perry.

New polling from Franklin & Marshall shows Stelson on the rise, and with no signs of stopping soon:

“Six-term Republican incumbent Rep. Scott Perry has a single percentage-point edge over Democratic challenger Janelle Stelson”

“Perry’s job approval ratings are low, given his tenure, as just over one in three respondents believe he is doing an “excellent” or “good” job as their representative”

This is the third consecutive poll in PA-10 that shows the race is a toss up and within the margin of error, further proof that Perry’s extremism is catching up with him.

DCCC Spokesperson Aidan Johnson:
“Scott Perry represents the worst of politics, and his dysfunctional antics are no longer flying in Central Pennsylvania. Meanwhile, Janelle Stelson has proven herself to be an incredible candidate and will leave Perry in the dust this November.”

Washington Post: Poll: GOP Rep. Scott Perry virtually tied with Democratic challenger
Mariana Alfaro | June 6, 2024

  • A new poll finds Rep. Scott Perry (R-Pa.) — a House ultraconservative — in a tight race against his Democratic challenger, former television anchor Janelle Stelson, in Pennsylvania’s 10th Congressional District.

  • The survey, from Franklin & Marshall College, shows Perry polling at 45 percent to Stelson’s 44 percent — well within the margin of error. Eleven percent of voters were undecided.

  • Perry, a six-term incumbent and former chair of the right-wing House Freedom Caucus, was reelected with ease in his early campaigns. The margins have closed in more recent elections after the 10th District became more competitive due to redistricting.

  • Democrats believe they have a good chance of toppling Perry this time.

  • The new poll found that Perry’s approval ratings among his constituents are low.

  • Perry, a Trump loyalist who denied the results of the 2020 election, was appointed Wednesday to the House Intelligence Committee, granting him oversight of the U.S. intelligence community and sensitive government material.

Steve Ulrich | June 6, 2024

  • The race for the 10th Congressional District seat is in a statistical tie, according to the latest poll from Franklin & Marshall College’s Center for Opinion Research.

  • F&M surveyed 397 registered voters who live in the District which comprises Cumberland, Dauphin and York counties in south-central Pennsylvania.

  • Six-term Republican incumbent Rep. Scott Perry has a single percentage-point edge over Democratic challenger Janelle Stelson, 45-44%, with 11 percent reporting they are undecided.

  • Perry’s job approval ratings are low, given his tenure, as just over one in three respondents believe he is doing an “excellent” or “good” job as their representative. Not surprisingly, nearly 2-in-3 Republicans (68%) rate him positively, while Democrats (9%) and independents (17%) view his performance in a different light.

  • The Stelson campaign released an internal poll conducted by Normington Petts on Tuesday that also showed the race within the margin of error.

  • The survey gave Perry a three-point edge over Stelson, 51-48%, with a margin of error at +/-4.9%.
