Today, Rep. Yvette Herrell joined her fellow Republicans and voted to shut down the government, recklessly threatening our economy and risking critical government services.
If Rep. Herrell had it her way, New Mexicans who are employed by the federal government would be furloughed without pay, our national security would be at risk, and New Mexico families who rely on federal benefits would be left on their own.
While the GOP is busy censuring their own members and Herrell avoids answering whether she thinks the deadly January 6th attack that GOP’s ‘Big Lie’ incited was “legitimate political discourse,” Herrell chose to follow her extremist Washington party bosses instead of doing her job.
“Yvette Herrell once again voted to shut down the government despite knowing the damage it would inflict on New Mexico’s families and economy,” said DCCC spokesperson Maddy Mundy. “Voters deserve better than extremist Republicans like Rep. Herrell who consistently turns her back on her constituents.”
