Today, Rep. Michelle Steel joined her fellow Republicans and voted to shut down the government, recklessly threatening our economy and risking critical government services.
If Rep. Steel had it her way, Californians who are employed by the federal government would be furloughed without pay, our national security would be at risk, and California families who rely on federal benefits would be left on their own.
While the GOP is busy censuring their own members and Steel avoids answering whether she thinks the deadly January 6th attack that GOP’s ‘Big Lie’ incited was “legitimate political discourse,” Steel chose to follow her extremist Washington party bosses instead of doing her job.
“Michelle Steel once again voted to shut down the government despite knowing the damage it would inflict on California’s families and economy,” said DCCC spokesperson Maddy Mundy. “Voters deserve better than extremist Republicans like Rep. Steel who consistently turns her back on her constituents.”
