One Week After Ohio Primary, Momentum Is on House Democrats’ Side

Spectrum News“Democrats in Ohio may have more reason to hope than they’ve had in years.”

Just one week after Ohio’s primary, the picture across the state’s House battleground just keeps getting better for Democrats.

Ohio Democrats posted one of their highest turnouts since 2006 — seeing huge increases in critical urban and suburban counties.

Last week, nonpartisan race rater Larry Sabato’s Crystal Ball moved Ohio’s 7th and 9th Districts in Democrats’ direction the day after the primary election, sounding alarm bells for proven loser Derek Merrin – who OH-09 voters already rejected once in 2024 – and Max Miller, who is heading into the general dogged by damaging coverage from serious abuse allegations.

Meanwhile, every Republican on the ballot in Ohio now owns Trump’s tariffs raising costs on Ohio families and farmers, his reckless war of choice in Iran pushing gas above $4.50 a gallon, and his devastating Medicaid cuts threatening to close rural hospitals across the state.

DCCC Spokesperson Riya Vashi:
“One week out from the primary, the momentum in Ohio is clearly on House Democrats’ side. Republican turnout is sliding, GOP candidates across the state are damaging their own chances, and every Republican on the ballot will have to spend the next six months answering for an unpopular cost-spiking agenda, gas at almost $5 per gallon, and Medicaid cuts threatening Ohio hospitals. There’s no doubt the path to the House majority runs through Ohio.”
