One Year After Trump’s Tariffs: Everything is More Expensive Because of Max Miller, Mike Turner and Mike Carey

On the anniversary of Trump’s “Liberation Day” tariffs, hardworking Ohioans continue to suffer under the weight of rising prices on everything from groceries to medicine.

In the year since Trump’s sweeping tariffs were announced, American families have paid more than $1,700 in higher costs, and businesses have seen operating costs rise, profit margins shrink, and scrambled to stay afloat amidst the chaos and catastrophe caused by Republicans.

Across the country, manufacturers shed 98,000 jobs as “the tariffs that Trump said would help American factories are, in fact, squashing many of them.”

As Max Miller, Mike Turner, and Mike Carey continue to support cost-raising policies hurting hardworking families instead of working to lower costs, it’s a broken promise that is becoming one of the defining issues of the midterms that will cost Miller, Turner, and Carey their jobs.

With Miller, Turner, and Carey continuing to fall in line behind Donald Trump’s disastrous tariff policy, the DCCC has been consistently running multiple paid campaigns framing the disastrous effects of Republicans’ reckless tariffs as another part of their broken promise to the American people.

DCCC Spokesperson Riya Vashi:
“After running on an empty promise to lower costs, Max Miller, Mike Turner, and Mike Carey’s support of Trump’s reckless tariffs has turned their central 2024 promise into their biggest 2026 liability.”
