One Year After Trump’s Tariffs: Everything is More Expensive Because of Mike Lawler

On the anniversary of Trump’s “Liberation Day” tariffs, New Yorkers continue to suffer under the weight of rising prices on everything from groceries to medicine.

While Mike Lawler repeatedly voted to rubber-stamp Trump’s chaotic tariffs over the past year, American families have paid more than $1,700 in higher costs, and New Yorkers are already spending $2,000 more with Republicans in power.

In New York, clean energy developers are already paying 30% more in project costs and are at “an impasse” thanks to “rising construction costs tied to President Donald Trump’s tariffs. Enough power for more than 2 million households is in limbo.”

REMINDER: Lawler recently claimed that tariffs would help “reduce overall costs” for Americans and that tariffs could be an “effective” negotiating tool.

With Mike Lawler continuing to fall in line behind Donald Trump’s disastrous tariff policy, the DCCC has been consistently running multiple paid campaigns framing the disastrous effects of Republicans’ reckless tariffs as another part of their broken promise to the American people.

DCCC Spokesperson Riya Vashi:
“After running on an empty promise to lower costs, Mike Lawler’s support of Trump’s reckless tariffs has turned his central 2024 promise into his biggest 2026 liability.”
