| On the anniversary of Trump’s “Liberation Day” tariffs, Alaska families continue to suffer under the weight of rising prices on everything from groceries to medicine.
In the year since Trump’s sweeping tariffs were announced, American families have paid more than $1,700 in higher costs, and businesses have seen operating costs rise, profit margins shrink, and scrambled to stay afloat amidst the chaos and catastrophe caused by Republicans.
As Nick Begich continues to support cost-raising policies hurting hardworking families and crushing Alaska’s small businesses instead of working to lower costs, it’s a broken promise that is becoming one of the defining issues of the midterms that will cost Begich his job.
With Begich continuing to fall in line behind Donald Trump’s disastrous tariff policy, the DCCC has been consistently running multiple paid campaigns framing the disastrous effects of Republicans’ reckless tariffs as another part of their broken promise to the American people.
DCCC Spokesperson Anna Elsasser:
“After running on an empty promise to lower costs, Begich’s support of Trump’s reckless tariffs has turned his central 2024 promise into his biggest 2026 liability.” |
