One Year After Trump’s Tariffs: Jim Desmond Sides with Policies Making Everything More Expensive

On the anniversary of Trump’s “Liberation Day” tariffs, Southern California families continue to suffer under the weight of rising prices on everything from groceries to medicine.

In the year since Trump’s sweeping tariffs were announced, American families have paid more than $1,700 in higher costs, and businesses have seen operating costs rise, profit margins shrink, and scrambled to stay afloat amidst the chaos and catastrophe caused by Republicans.

For San Diego families alone, Trump’s tariffs have been estimated to be a $2,400 annual hit to families.

Yet, Jim Desmond has fallen in lockstep with Trump’s cost-spiking agenda – voting against his own housing proposal to avoid acknowledging the impact of Trump’s tariffs and economic policies.

With Desmond continuing to fall in line behind Donald Trump’s disastrous tariff policy, the DCCC has been consistently running multiple paid campaigns framing the disastrous effects of Republicans’ reckless tariffs as another part of their broken promise to the American people.

DCCC Spokesperson Anna Elsasser:
“Jim Desmond’s blind support of Trump’s reckless tariffs shows exactly where his priorities lie, and it’s not with the hardworking families of CA-48 being crushed by costs.”
