ONE YEAR AGO TODAY: David Schweikert Voted Against Relief for Working Families

One year ago today, President Biden signed the Inflation Reduction Act into law – historic legislation led by House Democrats to lower prescription drug costs for older Americans, fight inflation, create jobs, and make the largest corporations pay their fair share.

This historic effort to deliver for working families did not receive a single vote from Republicans in Congress – including Rep. David Schweikert.

Despite Schweikert’s effort to block the Inflation Reduction Act, the law will continue to:

  • Allow Medicare to negotiate drug prices and cap out-of-pocket costs to $2,000, including capping the cost of insulin to $35/month

  • Lower energy costs and create jobs

  • Lower health care premiums for millions of Americans

  • Fight inflation and achieve historic deficit reduction

  • Make the biggest corporations and ultra-wealthy pay their fair share

David Schweikert has made federal health care spending on diabetes a focus of his Congressional activity – but he has voted twice against capping the cost of insulin to $35 per month for qualified households – including against the Inflation Reduction Act.

DCCC Spokesperson Justin Chermol:
“David Schweikert’s vote against capping the cost of insulin, lowering costs, and creating good-paying jobs shows just how extreme and out of touch he truly is. Schweikert cannot be trusted to fight for Arizonans.”
