ONE YEAR AGO TODAY: María Elvira Salazar Voted Against Relief for Working Families

One year ago today, President Biden signed the Inflation Reduction Act into law – historic legislation led by House Democrats to lower prescription drug costs for older Americans, fight inflation, create jobs, and make the largest corporations pay their fair share.

This historic effort to deliver for working families did not receive a single vote from Republicans in Congress – including Rep. María Elvira Salazar.

Despite Salazar’s effort to block the Inflation Reduction Act, the law will continue to:

  • Allow Medicare to negotiate drug prices and cap out-of-pocket costs to $2,000, including capping the cost of insulin to $35/month

  • Lower energy costs and create jobs

  • Lower health care premiums for millions of Americans

  • Fight inflation and achieve historic deficit reduction

  • Make the biggest corporations and ultra-wealthy pay their fair share

DCCC Spokesperson Justin Chermol:
“María Elvira Salazar’s vote against capping the cost of insulin, lowering costs, and creating good-paying jobs shows just how extreme and out of touch he truly is. Salazar cannot be trusted to fight for Floridians.”
