ONE YEAR LATER: Big, Ugly Bill Remains Deeply Unpopular, Even Worse for the American People

The DCCC made clear that a vote for this bill would be the defining vote of the midterm election – and that fact remains the same one year later. Here is why:

• The Big, Ugly Bill remains deeply unpopular. Recent Navigator polling shows the law underwater by 11 points in battleground districts and 18 points nationally, underscoring the political liability Republicans continue to face.
• Nearly 8 million Americans have lost health coverage and hundreds of hospitals have closed or are at risk of closing. Marketplace enrollment has fallen by 4.2 million people, while an estimated 3.8 million Americans have lost Medicaid or CHIP coverage since the law took effect.
• Millions have lost access to food assistance. SNAP participation has declined by more than 4 million people (10%) nationwide. Enrollment has fallen in every state, including by at least 5% in 40 states and 10% or more in 20 states.
• Health care costs are soaring. Average monthly marketplace premiums have increased 58%, rising from $113 in 2025 to $178 in 2026, forcing millions of Americans to pay substantially more for coverage or abandon their plans altogether.
