This week marks one year since Juan Ciscomani and Eli Crane voted for the Big, Ugly Bill, a disastrous tax scam that enacted the largest cut to Medicaid and food assistance in American history to fund massive tax breaks for billionaires.
More than400,000 Arizonanswill lose health coverage. Marketplace enrollment has fallen by 4.2 million people nationally, while an estimated 3.8 million Americans have lost Medicaid or CHIP coverage since the law took effect.
NineArizona hospitalsand clinics have closed or are closing and five hospitals are at risk of closing.
More thanhalf of all Arizona SNAP recipientshave lost access to food assistance. SNAP enrollment has fallen 53% in Arizona, with more than 469,000 fewer people in the state receiving nutrition assistance.
Health care costs are soaring.Arizonans have been forced to pay up to 55.3% more for their monthly premiums in 2026 or abandon their plans altogether. Nearly 66,000 Arizonans dropped their health care since last year when the ACA tax credits expired.
The Big, Ugly Bill remains deeply unpopular. Recent Navigator polling shows the law underwater by 11 points in battleground districts and 18 points nationally, underscoring the political liability Crane and Ciscomani continue to face.
DCCC Spokesperson Lindsay Reilly: “Juan Ciscomani and Eli Crane betrayed their constituents when voting for the Big, Ugly Bill. As a result of their shameful actions, hospitals are closing, children are losing food, and health care is being stripped away. GOP lapdogs like Ciscomani and Crane are going to lose in November, and the vote for this Tax Scam will be the reason why.”
