Today marks the one-year anniversary of the bipartisan Honoring Our PACT Act – historic legislation championed by Congresswoman Sharice Davids and House Democrats and signed into law by President Biden that reaffirmed our commitment to the brave men and women who have served our nation.
Thanks to Congresswoman Davids’ vote last year, the PACT Act has:
Expanded access to critical care for veterans who were exposed to dangerous toxic chemicals like Agent Orange, Gulf War toxins, and burn pits during their service
Extended the period of time that post-9/11 combat veterans have to enroll in VA health care from five years to 10 years
Authorized new VA medical and research centers in Kansas
Streamlined veterans ability access critical resources and care
DCCC Spokesperson Mallory Payne:
“For far too long, our nation’s veterans and servicemembers suffering from toxic exposures have been denied the benefits owed to them. The Honoring Our PACT Act makes decades-overdue progress to help the VA fulfill its mission to care for all veterans, which would not have been possible without the tireless work of Congresswoman Davids and House Democrats.”
