One Year of Reckless Tariffs: Everything is More Expensive Because of Mariannette Miller-Meeks and Zach Nunn

On the anniversary of the “Liberation Day” tariffs, Iowans continue to suffer under the weight of rising prices on everything from groceries to medicine.

In the year since the sweeping tariffs were announced, American families have paid more than $1,700 in higher costs, and businesses have seen operating costs rise, profit margins shrink, and scrambled to stay afloat amidst the chaos and catastrophe caused by Republicans.

As Mariannette Miller-Meeks and Zach Nunn continue to support cost-raising policies hurting Iowa families and farmers instead of working to lower costs, this broken promise will cost them their jobs.

DCCC Spokesperson Katie Smith:
“After running on an empty promise to lower costs, Mariannette Miller-Meeks and Zach Nunn’s support for reckless tariffs has turned their central 2024 promise into their biggest 2026 liability.”

Reminder of what Iowa farmers and families are facing thanks to Miller-Meeks and Nunn’s reckless, cost-spiking tariffs:
