Orange County a Focus of DCCC’s Seven-Figure Advertising Investment to Engage AAPI Voters

Today, the DCCC announced a seven-figure investment in digital, print and radio advertising to court, galvanize, and mobilize AAPI voters in critical battleground districts, including California’s competitive 40th and 45th districts. The digital advertisements will spotlight Republicans’ extreme agenda on abortion and the effects it has on everyday families.

The digital ads come as Republicans plot a nationwide abortion ban, which would override any state protections – leaving women and families unable to access reproductive healthcare. The ads share the devastating, but realistic, story of a man losing his wife after she was unable to get treatment due to pregnancy complications.

In California’s 40th district, Republican Young Kim sided with her radical party bosses and voted against the Women’s Health Protection Act, which would codify Roe v. Wade.

In California’s 45th district, Michelle Steel supports legislation that would ban abortion even in instances of rape or when an individual’s life is at risk. Republicans know their dangerous opposition to abortion is deeply unpopular with voters. That’s why, when asked by the New York Times last month if she stood by an abortion ban without exceptions for rape, Steel refused to answer.

Dr. Asif Mahmood and Jay Chen, Democrats running against Kim and Steel respectively, are both on the DCCC’s exclusive Red to Blue program.

“The Republican agenda poses a threat to people nationwide and especially women and families within the AAPI community,” said DCCC Senior Advisor for AAPI Engagement Allen Chen. “As Republicans plot to further rip away a woman’s freedom to make decisions about her own body, voters will hear about the devastating and dangerous effects of the Republicans’ government overreach.”
