Today, congressional Republicans showed their true colors when they unveiled a sweeping national ban on abortion, with criminal penalties for women who exercise their right to choose.
This dark piece of legislation threatens women across Oregon – and it closely mirrors the disturbing records of anti-choice extremists like Alek Skarlatos (OR-04), Lori Chavez-DeRemer (OR-05), and Mike Erickson (OR-06):
-
Alek Skarlatos said the Court should ‘go for it’ on overturning Roe v. Wade and proudly accepted the endorsement of the extremist anti-abortion group National Right to Life, which wants to ban abortion even in cases of rape or incest;
-
Lori Chavez-DeRemer backs an extreme, near-total ban on abortion and proudly accepted the endorsement of the extremist anti-abortion group National Right to Life, which wants to ban abortion even in case of rape or incest;
-
And Mike Erickson has campaigned on a “strict anti-abortion platform” and wants to ban abortion even in cases of rape or incest.
Make no mistake: Skarlatos, Chavez-DeRemer, and Erickson would be a reliable vote against a woman’s right to choose in Congress.
DCCC Spokesperson Teddy Lake
“Skarlatos, Chavez-DeRemer, and Erickson are partisan lackeys who will happily toe the extremist party line – even when that means enacting a draconian national ban on abortion. They’re bad for women, bad for families, bad for freedom, and bad for Oregon.”
