Out of Town and On Vacation, House GOP Fumbles With New Shutdown Message: Don’t Talk About Health Care

Mike Johnson is ordering Republicans not talk about health care because the polling is bad

Republicans are on the run – and their latest messaging memo is a clear indication that they are losing.

According to a new report from Fox News, Mike Johnson is circulating messaging guidance that encourages the so-called moderate Republicans to refrain from talking about their attempts to cut ACA tax credits and vote to enact the largest cut to Medicaid in American history. Republicans are also encouraged to openly bash and criticize any attempts to keep health care costs down and save the ACA tax credits, which would help millions of working Americans struggling to make ends meet.

The latest guidance from Johnson affirms what Rep. Lisa McClain told members in a closed door meeting: do not talk about health care because ‘Rs lose that argument.’

DCCC Spokesperson Justin Chermol:
“Mike Johnson is feeling the pressure, sending a last-ditch memo because he knows the American people will blame Republicans for the GOP-manufactured health care crisis. Even Trump’s own pollsters have admitted it.”
