Today, in the race for Florida’s 26th Congressional District, the DCCC launched its latest TV ads that make it clear Congressman Curbelo’s record in Washington, from health care to taxes, is the reason South Floridians are breaking up with him. The latest TV ads, in English and Spanish, continue a theme of constituents writing their goodbye letter to Congressman Curbelo. Now, in addition to his health care vote, South Floridians are saying “goodbye” to Congressman Curbelo because of his vote for a massive tax handout to the wealthy and big corporations, which would increase the deficit by $1.9 trillion and lead to cuts to Social Security and Medicare.
And while Congressman Curbelo claimed he’d campaign on his party’s historically unpopular tax bill, that has proven to be nothing more than a talking point as Democrats define this crucial issue in the closing weeks of the campaign.
“When it mattered most, Congressman Curbelo abandoned the community he claims to serve and fell in line with President Trump and his party in Washington,” said DCCC spokesperson, Cole Leiter. “After four years of his betrayal, South Floridians have had enough with Congressman Curbelo and his repeated attacks on their affordable healthcare, Medicare and Social Security, all to pay off his special interest donors and big corporations. This ad mirrors the process thousands of former Curbelo voters are going through, as they say ‘goodbye’ to a Representative who always served them second.”

Dear Congressman Curbelo.
I thought you had our backs.
But you didn’t.
You voted with Trump almost 85% of the time.
You voted to hand a trillion-dollar tax cut to the wealthy and big corporations
And then plan to cut Social Security and Medicare to pay for it.
It looks like you’ve become just another typical Washington politician.
So I’m writing to let you know I’ll be voting for somebody who won’t turn her back on us, Debbie Mucarsel Powell.
