Last week, MercyOne Ottumwa Family and Internal Medicine Clinic announced it will close its doors in February.
TO NOTE: The clinic is located in Miller-Meeks’ most recently declared residence of Ottumwa…
(Here’s your reminder that Miller-Meeks spent months lying to Iowans about where she lived before quietly “chang[ing] her voter registration back to her Ottumwa home” *outside the district* after repeatedly insisting that she lived in IA-01.)
…and it’s the second closure announced in recent weeks, as Iowans will be forced to go elsewhere for care and rural hospitals will have to shoulder even more of a burden as yet another health care provider shuts down.
This comes after Mariannette Miller-Meeks voted for the largest cuts to Medicaid in history that is slashing funding for Iowa’s rural hospitals.
DCCC Spokesperson Katie Smith:
“Mariannette Miller-Meeks voted to cut critical funding for Iowa’s rural hospitals and health care providers, and now Iowans are feeling the consequences. It’s already getting harder for Iowa families to access the care they need — both in the district she represents, and outside of it where she lives in Ottumwa — and Iowans have Miller-Meeks to blame.”
