As President Trump painted a dark vision for our country during his first State of the Union address — filled with misguided facts and lies — Lea Marquez-Peterson said that his speech had a very “inspirational message.”
So which part of Trump’s speech did Lea Marquez-Peterson find so inspirational?
…. Was it the part when Trump spoke about his mass deportation plan and criminalized all immigrants?
…. OR when he refused to mention DACA – the same program he arbitrarily ended and put 800,000 Dreamers at risk of deportation?
…. OR when he used Dreamers as bargaining chips to push his anti-immigration policies?
…. OR when lied about the GOP Tax Scam?
…. OR when he misled on the unemployment rate for Latinos?
…. OR when he made no mention of the skyrocketing cost of healthcare premiums or GOP efforts to raise costs for Arizonans?
…. OR was it the part of the speech when he once again called on Congress to build his “great wall”? OH WAIT – SHE ALREADY WANTS TO BUILD THE WALL.
Lea Marquez-Peterson is vying to represent a heavily Hispanic district that rejected Trump’s vision for our country last election, she should have to answer what part of Trump’s speech was so “inspirational.” And let us not forget that it was President Trump who pardoned Sherriff Joe Arpaio, a convicted criminal who terrorized the Latino and immigrant community and violated Arizonans’ basic human rights.
“If Lea Marquez-Peterson was left feeling inspired by President Trump’s dark State of the Union address, then it’s crystal clear that she doesn’t understand the values of the district she wants to represent,” said DCCC Hispanic Media Director Javier Gamboa. “Make no mistake: Arizona voters already rejected Trump once, and they will reject the Trump-Marquez-Peterson ticket once again come this November.”
