Pat Harrigan Admits to Financially Profiting Off AR-15 “Heyday” After Sandy Hook

GOP candidate in NC-14 says he personally benefited from increased gun sales after Sandy Hook Elementary School shooting

New reporting from the Charlotte Observer revealed today that Republican candidate Pat Harrigan (NC-14) admitted his firearms business financially “benefited from the increase in gun sales following the shooting at Sandy Hook Elementary School” because “AR-15s were […] in their heyday.”

In the wake of a tragic series of mass shootings across the country, including one in Uvalde, Texas that killed 19 students and two teachers, Pat Harrigan has still refused to commit to supporting common-sense gun safety reforms. Despite fielding questions from reporters, Harrigan failed to back any specific policy solutions to curb gun violence.

We see the disgraceful reason why: Pat Harrigan’s business financially benefited from a spike in AR-15 sales after the horrific Sandy Hook shooting, and it may be happening again in the wake of continued tragic mass shootings across America.

“Harrigan’s admission that his business’s AR-15 sales were in their ‘heyday’ after the devastating murder of elementary schoolers is an insult to the families who lost children that day,” said DCCC spokesperson Monica Robinson. “North Carolinians deserve so much better than a politician who is more focused on his company’s bottom line than protecting children from gun violence.”
